2021 Video Müzik Ödülleri, 12 Eylül Pazar günü saat 20:00 ET/PT'de (TSİ ile 13 Eylül saat 03:00’de) Barclays Center'dan canlı olarak yayınlanmak üzere New York’a dönüyor. Ödül Töreni, 180 ülke ve bölgede farklı dillerde küresel lineer ve dijital platformlarda yayınlanıyor ve yaklaşık 30'a yakın dilde 400 milyon aileye ulaşıyor. Video Müzik Ödülleri CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, VH1 ve The CW Network'te eşzamanlı olarak yayınlanacak.
Bugünden itibaren müzikseverler, 3 Eylül 2021 Cuma gününe kadar vma.mtv.com'u ziyaret ederek "Yılın Videosu", "Yılın Sanatçısı", "En İyi İşbirliği" ve daha fazlası dahil olmak üzere cinsiyetten bağımsız 14 kategoride favorilerine oy verebilirler. Facebook tarafından sunulan “En İyi Yeni Sanatçı” için oylama, 12 Eylül 2021 Pazar günü gösteride aktif olmaya devam edecek. “En İyi Grup” ve “Yazın Şarkısı” dahil olmak üzere sosyal kategoriler için adaylıklar daha sonraki bir tarihte açıklanacak.
